Writing a News Article

News

News is an important part of our lives. It is a source of information, education and entertainment. It is also a medium through which people can express themselves.

Writing a News Article

When you’re writing news articles, you need to keep the facts and details in mind. Make sure your reader gets all of the information they need to understand what is going on in the world.

Start by making a lead statement, a single sentence that gives your readers an overview of what your article will be about. This should include a summary of the topic, why it is newsworthy and what you will be covering.

This is similar to a thesis statement for an essay, so be sure you’re telling your readers what you want them to know about the topic.

Think of your article as an inverted pyramid: the base is the introduction, which contains the most important information for your readers to find out. The middle is where the key points of your story are, and the top of the pyramid is the last paragraph or the end.

In addition to the main facts you need to include in your news article, you should also include any other information that is relevant to your reader’s understanding of the topic. This could be contact information, quotes from interviews or other background information. This is especially useful when writing opinion pieces, because you can provide additional information that your readers can use to form their own views.
